Installation

The software can be downloaded from the download page on the website.

If you already own a license, please make sure that you download a version that matches your license. Generally, a version 7 license is valid for all 7.x versions but not for a future 8.x version.

We offer two kinds of downloads for each version:

  • Setup/installer
  • Zip file

Setup-based Installation

This is the preferred method to install mAirList and should be used to install the software unless you have a very good reason to use the Zip installation instead (see below).

Initial Setup

Download the installer (mAirList-<version>-setup.exe) and run it. The setup wizard will guide you through the installation. In case there are additional required components to be installed (in particular, Microsoft Visual C++ runtimes), the installer will offer you to download and install them.

The default target directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\mAirList 7. Please do not change this if unless you know what you do.

A folder will be created in C:\ProgramData that is being used for the license and configuration.

After the setup is completed, a Start Menu group is created where you will find mAirList and its sub-applications.

Update with mAirList 7.x

If you already have an earlier version of mAirList 7 installed, and you wish to update to the latest version, just download the new setup and install on top of the existing installation.

All versions of mAirList 7 (7.0, 7.1, 7.2, etc.) will install into the same mAirList 7 program folder, and you can easily update by running the new installer. Your configuration will stay intact.

Note: This has changed from mAirList 6 where all subversions (6.0, 6.1, etc.) would install as a separate application with a separate configuration.

Upgrade from mAirList 6.x or Below

If you previously had mAirList 6.x (or an even older version) installed, mAirList 7 will install as a separate application, with a separate (and initially empty) configuration. Your existing installation of mAirList 6.x will remain intact and untouched. If you want to import the configuration of your older version into mAirList 7, you can migrate your configuration using the configuration app.

Uninstall

If you wish to uninstall the software, you can do so using Windows Control Panel.

To purge the configuration, manually remove the folder C:\ProgramData\mAirList\7.

Zip Installation

This is an alternative method to install mAirList and should only be used by experienced users in very special situations (e.g. when installing/testing multiple versions side by side).

To “install” the software, just download mAirList-<version>.zip and unzip it in a suitable folder of your choice.

Unlike the setup version, the Zip installation will not use C:\ProgramData for its configuration and license, but rather store everything inside the unzipped application folder. This will not work when you stored in C:\Program Files.

In order to have the Zip installation use the default C:\ProgramData folder, delete the folder config from the unzipped application folder.

No Start Menu items are created when using the Zip installation, but there is a number of batch files provided to call the various sub-applications of mAirList.exe.
